K. Match Play Rules

1. Official Match Location

The America Tennis League schedule will designate the official court or facility where each match is to be played. Players are expected to honor the scheduled location.

2. Alternate Match Location

Players may choose to play at another tennis facility only if both players mutually agree before the scheduled match. Neither player may require the other to travel to a different location without consent.

3. Home Court Responsibility

If a designated court becomes unavailable due to maintenance, weather, reservation conflicts, or other unforeseen circumstances, the affected player is responsible for proposing a suitable alternate court that is reasonably convenient for both players.

4. Court Fees

Unless otherwise stated by the league, any applicable court rental or reservation fees shall be shared equally by both players unless another arrangement is mutually agreed upon.

5. Scheduling

Players are expected to communicate respectfully and make every reasonable effort to complete their match before the league deadline. Repeated delays or failure to cooperate with scheduling may result in penalties or forfeiture.

6. Weather Delays

If weather or unsafe court conditions prevent play, both players should promptly work together to reschedule the match before the league deadline.

7. Late Arrival

Players should arrive on time. A player arriving more than 20 minutes late without notifying the opponent may forfeit the match unless the opponent agrees to wait longer.

8. Match Rules

Unless otherwise specified by America Tennis League, all matches shall be played according to the current USTA Rules of Tennis. Any league-specific rules published by America Tennis League shall take precedence over general USTA rules whenever applicable.

9. Sportsmanship

Players are expected to demonstrate honesty, fairness, and respect throughout every match. Unsportsmanlike conduct, abusive language, harassment, intimidation, cheating, or repeated violations of league rules may result in warnings, point penalties, default, suspension, or permanent removal from the league.

10. Player Rating, Competitive Balance & Playoff Eligibility

America Tennis League is committed to maintaining fair and competitive divisions for all participants. Players are expected to register at the appropriate skill level based on their playing ability and experience.

Any new singles player or doubles team that intentionally or unintentionally registers below their true skill level ("sandbagging" or underrating) or fails to follow the league's player rating guidelines may be subject to review by the League Administrator.

To preserve competitive integrity:

  • New players or newly formed doubles teams that complete the regular season with an exceptionally high winning percentage (75% or greater) may be determined to have competed below their appropriate skill level.
  • Following a league review, such players or teams may be disqualified from winning their division, participating in the playoffs, or receiving league awards, regardless of their final standings.
  • The League reserves the right to adjust a player's or team's rating or division placement at any time during the season if it determines that the registered level is not appropriate.
  • America Tennis League may investigate player ratings, match results, and competitive history whenever necessary to ensure fair competition for all participants.
  • All decisions regarding player ratings, playoff eligibility, and disqualification are made solely by America Tennis League and are final.

Note: The purpose of this policy is to encourage honest self-rating, maintain balanced competition, and provide a fair playing experience for every participant.

11. Match Results

Winning players are responsible for reporting the official match score through the America Tennis League website or app within the required reporting period. Both players are expected to verify that the submitted score is accurate.

12. League Authority

America Tennis League reserves the right to make final decisions regarding player ratings, scheduling disputes, defaults, code of conduct issues, playoff eligibility, and interpretation of league rules. All league decisions shall be final.
